Christopher MacLeod was found with several gunshot wounds near a grassy patch as officers responded to the shooting report at an apartment on Midway Lane in Ewing just after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said.

MacLeod was rushed to Capital Health Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead a few hours later.

Investigators say MacLeod was home when he heard a knock at his door.

He answered the door and the shots were heard “moments later,” Onofri said.

Shell casings were also found in the common walkway area between buildings, according to investigators, who say that the shooting was not random and believe MacLeod was the intended target.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Mercer County Homicide Task Force at (609) 989-6406 or send an email to mchtftips@mercercounty.org.
